The two teams first met in the inaugural edition of IPL in
2008, with RR defeating RCB by seven wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in
Bengaluru on April 26. Shane Watson was the star of the match as he picked up
2/20 from four overs and scored an unbeaten 61 off 41 balls.
Rajasthan Royals have scored four seven-wicket wins over RCB
in the IPL, with the win at SuperSport Park in Centurion in 2009 being the
biggest, when they reached the target with five overs to spare. Amit Singh was
the Player of the Match with a spell of 4/19 and Naman Ojha scored an unbeaten
half-century with the bat.
The Royals’ 65-run win over RCB at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium
in Jaipur in May 2008 is their biggest in terms of runs. Graeme Smith was
adjudged Man of the Match for his quickfire 75 off 49 balls. Sohail Tanvir and
Shane Warne picked up three wickets apiece.
The Royals scored their highest aggregate of 217/4 against
the RCB at Bengaluru in 2018. Sanju Samson hit an unbeaten 92 off just 45
balls, which included two fours and 10 sixes, to be adjudged Player of the
Match. Shreyas Gopal also chipped in with 2/22 with the ball to help the Royals
to a 19-run win over RCB.
In their nine meetings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in
Jaipur, the Royals have come out on top five times including their six-wicket
win in their last match in 2024 and the RCB have won four matches.
Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 106 off 60 balls in the second
qualifier of IPL 2022 against the RCB at Ahmedabad, is the highest individual
score by a Royals batter in this fixture. Buttler hit 10 boundaries and six
maximums in his Player of the Match winning performance to take the Royals to
their second final after 2008.
Shreyas Gopal’s 4/16 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in 2018,
which helped the Royals to a 30-run win, is the best bowling performance for
the Royals against the RCB.
